The Fogg is closed for renovation, so I went to the Sackler Museum, which is where Harvard is having its “best of best” pieces on display. I walk by the Sackler almost every day, but it was the first time I’ve actually gone inside- somehow, the coffin-like door was never appealing. I was surprised, however, to find a Sol LeWitt in the entry– probably the last place I would have imagined a LeWitt to be, but the architecture of the Sackler turned out to be much more interesting inside than outside.
If you go, I’d recommend going top down. For those who can’t go, here are some photos that I took. Peale’s “Still Life with Watermelon” alone is reason to go.
