Supporters of the embattled Professor Hwang Woo-suk demonstrated over the weekend in front of the Korean Broadcasting System, urging the company to screen a program which is said to contain contents believed to be advantageous to the scientist.
The program reportedly contains an argument that some stem cells produced by Dr. Hwang’s research team were produced through somatic cell transfer technology. The professor has been accused of not having such technology.
The Seoul National University’s disciplinary committee earlier last week fired the professor for fabricating data in academic papers on stem cell technology.
Two riot policemen and two protesters were injured in a scuffle between ten companies of riot police and about 1,200 demonstrators.
