Although the headline gives somewhat of a negative nuance, I have to say that people are more incredulous than skeptical, if that distinction makes sense. I also don’t think that lack of peer review is an indicator of bad research, but it is somewhat unfortunate that Koreans (and perhaps most academics) are so anal about producing a ground-breaking paper, when actually more timely results could benefit other research, especially in a field like medicine. For example, people rarely report things that didn’t work, when actually, that may be more informative than reporting what did work.
