Tim Burton’s Bulbous Heads

Tim Burton has a tendency to depict sinister characters with large, bulbous heads. Although the big heart-shaped head of the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland may have been more of an exaggeration of Queen Elizabeth, if you look at some of his past characters, you will have to agree with me that there is something going on with big bulbous heads.

Mean Mrs. Everglot in the Corpse Bride. This time, it's her hair, not head, that is bulbous.

Perhaps the heart-shape motif comes from the end part of bones….

Then there is Toxic Boy and Oyster Boy, who aren’t really sinister, but still show Burton’s obsession with big heads.
